Behind-the-Scenes at a cemetery

Since it’s establishment in 1871, Lakewood Cemetery has been “helping families honor, celebrate and remember their loved ones in a place of rich history and extraordinary beauty that will be protected and cared for forever.” Today, Lakewood Cemetery is focused on “sparking new conversations and creating deeply meaningful experiences that bring more awareness and intention to the full circle of life.”

Looking to showcase the wide variety of community events celebrating each point of life, Lakewood Cemetery was in need of some imagery that showcases what to expect at a cemetery-hosted event. They tasked me with creating documentary-style images to help community members and families experiencing loss can expect when visiting Lakewood. These images are used throughout Lakewood’s marketing efforts, including website, social media, email newsletter, print and digital advertisements, flyers and brochures, as well as large scale prints inside the newly opened Welcome Center.

A welcomed challenge was to create all imagery without including the identities of the individuals present, with the exception of Lakewood staff, volunteers, and even guides and instructors.

Proud to be Lakewood Cemetery’s exclusive photography partner since 2017.
